Staff Accountant - Construction


The Staff Accountant reports to the CFO and supports the accounting team by helping ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This person will work closely with the Maintenance and Construction divisions.


Responsibilities:


  • Analyze key financial metrics like revenue, gross margin, and cash flow
  • Help manage cash flow and lines of credit
  • Create and share monthly performance scorecards
  • Support month-end close and account reconciliations
  • Record and post incoming payments
  • Reconcile accounts receivable with the general ledger
  • Track customer deposits and follow up on outstanding balances
  • Back up the accounts payable team when needed
  • Coordinate with project managers on billing
  • Reconcile billing
  • Handle retainage billing and WIP reporting
  • Manage payroll-related reconciliations
  • Track fixed assets, depreciation, and loans
  • Manage fleet registrations and compliance
  • Keep company licenses and certifications up to date
  • Help prepare compliance reports
  • Work with HR and project managers on insurance claims
  • Ensure correct job setup
  • Manage project closeouts and reconcile budgets
  • Review and approve contracts and purchase orders
  • Track project forecasts and job costs
  • Document accounting processes


Qualifications:


  • 2+ years of accounting experience; construction or capital project accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Public accounting experience a plus
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability to work independently with strong time management skills
  • High integrity and ability to handle confidential information
