Senior Underwriter – Commercial Mortgages
Our client is a top commercial mortgage brokerage, closing over $1 billion in deals annually for various commercial real estate assets, including multifamily, retail, office, industrial, construction, and bridge loans. They are seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to join its team. This role involves analyzing, structuring, and negotiating complex commercial mortgage transactions. The ideal candidate has deep industry experience, strong lender relationships, and the ability to manage deals independently.
Responsibilities:
- Underwrite and structure commercial mortgage deals across multiple asset classes.
- Set up transactions, write detailed analyses, and communicate with clients.
- Identify and engage lenders, negotiating competitive terms.
- Present term sheets to clients and brokers.
- Work with underwriters and brokers to ensure smooth deal execution.
- Oversee signed term sheets through loan processing to closing.
- Stay current on market trends, lender requirements, and regulations.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of commercial mortgage underwriting experience.
- Currently working in a commercial mortgage brokerage firm (banking does not apply).
- Strong lender relationships and negotiation skills.
- Exceptional financial analysis and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deals and meet deadlines.
- Proactive problem-solver with a results-driven mindset.
