Senior Fire Protection Designer

Mechanical Subcontractor is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Designer to design sprinkler system layouts for fire protection projects. This role requires expertise in fire protection design, code compliance, and coordination with project stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.

Responsibilities:

• Design fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems, fire pumps, standpipes, and special hazard suppression systems.
• Develop detailed layouts, schematics, and calculations using design software.
• Ensure designs comply with NFPA codes, local and state regulations, and industry standards.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, and field teams to ensure seamless integration of fire protection systems.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and prepare submittals for client and regulatory approval.
• Review and approve shop drawings, submittals, and as-built documentation.
• Conduct site visits and field surveys to verify system designs and address installation challenges.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in sprinkler design
• Strong technical background in fire protection systems
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and fire protection design software.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA codes, IBC, and local fire protection regulations.
• NICET Certification a plus.
• AutoSPRINK experience a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Strong problem-solving skills, organized and detail-oriented
• Strong communication and project coordination skills.
• Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment
• Self-motivated and a team player
