Senior Construction Accountant
Mid-sized commercial construction company is seeking a Senior Construction Accountant to lead financial operations and project accounting in a hands-on environment. This role oversees day-to-day accounting, supervises a small team, and partners closely with leadership and project managers.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger and financial close
- Support project-related accounting and monitor overall job performance
- Prepare and deliver regular financial reports and insights to leadership
- Manage accounts payable, receivable, and cash flow processes
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Ensure accuracy of financial records and compliance with reporting requirements
- Partner with internal teams to support operational and financial decision-making
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff
- Coordinate with external partners including CPAs, banks, and service providers
- Assist with process improvements and special projects as needed
Qualifications:
- 5-10+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction
- Strong understanding of financial reporting and accounting operations
- Experience working in a project-based or job cost environment
- Proficiency with accounting systems (QuickBooks experience preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong communication and organizational abilities
