Senior Accountant / Controller

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business operations.
  • Prepare financial statements, financial reports, and special analyses.
  • Prepare property and project budgets.
  • Manage cash balances in bank accounts.
  • Manage bank covenant and lender reporting.
  • Manage property accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable.
  • Manage construction accounting for work performed on investments.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards and best practices.
  • Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures.
  • Develop and/or support the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems.
  • Facilitate disbursement and expenditures.
  • Oversee and respond to audit requests from outside auditors and/or governmental agencies.
  • Prepare billings.
  • Prepare draw requests.
  • Manage and oversee network file storage.
  • Perform financial modeling and analyses to evaluate potential investment and development opportunities.
  • Establish financing, lines of credit and/or sources of capital as required for projects, investments and company operations.
  • Develop and maintain equity relationships.
  • Price and manage insurance policies.
  • Deal sourcing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • 10+ years of accounting experience. Experience with commercial real estate accounting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of state and federal financial regulations.
  • Knowledge of contracting and negotiating.
  • Must be able to read, analyze and interpret and prepare financial data, contracts, financial reports, financial spreadsheets and related documents.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel
  • Experience with Yardi software preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and remain organized.
