Property Accountant
Rapidly growing real estate firm is seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to support the accounting and financial reporting functions for a growing real estate portfolio. This role will work closely with senior accounting and finance team members and will be responsible for day-to-day property and entity-level accounting across multiple assets.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain general ledger accounting for assigned real estate entities and properties
- Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Assist with monthly and quarterly financial close processes
- Prepare basic property-level financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow support)
- Record and track accounts payable, accounts receivable, and intercompany transactions
- Assist with CAM reconciliations and tenant billings, as applicable
- Support lender reporting requirements and loan draw documentation
- Assist with year-end audit and tax preparation by providing schedules and support documentation
- Track fixed assets, capital expenditures, and depreciation
- Maintain organized accounting records and supporting schedules
- Collaborate with property management, asset management, and external vendors as needed
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of real estate accounting experience (commercial and/or residential)
- Working knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting concepts
- Experience with property management or real estate accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, or similar)
- Strong Excel skills (basic formulas, pivots, reconciliations)
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
