Job Description
Manager, Technical Accounting & Reporting
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate changes to Accounting Standards Codifications (ASC), SEC regulations and regulatory reporting requirements, and communicate impact on the company’s financial reporting
- Analyze, research and conclude on proposed company initiatives and completed transactions, preparing complex memorandums summarizing the impact
- Liaise closely with external auditors and counsel on technical accounting and reporting issues
- Manage and review the quarterly processes of variable interest entities (consolidations) and current expected credit losses (CECL) performed by other departments
- Oversee the filing processes for specific SEC reporting requirements including the proxy statement and annual report, section 16 filings and 8-Ks
- Assist with investor relations and external communications including earnings releases, presentations and correspondence with shareholders
- Participate in review of potential transactions, SOX compliance, special projects and other ad-hoc requests
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’ s Degree in Accounting or a related field
- 4-6 years of relevant experience ideally in public accounting and/or focused in real estate or the mortgage industry; CPA preferred
- SEC reporting experience is required
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and technical accounting skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience researching and documenting disclosure guidance and the accounting treatment of complex transactions
- Experience in application of ASC 810 – Consolidations and ASC 326 – CECL a plus
- Flexibility and willingness to pivot to new priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Hands-on with strong judgment, interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to coordinate projects within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage multiple initiatives
- Ability to collaborate at all levels of the organization and across other functional areas
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite and hands-on exposure to accounting systems
