Lease Accountant - Residential
The Lease Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate accounting records for residential leases across our portfolio. This role will ensure that lease data is accurately reflected in the company's systems, tenant charges are correctly calculated, and compliance with accounting standards is maintained.
Responsibilities:
- Abstract and interpret residential lease agreements, including move-ins, renewals, and terminations.
- Maintain up-to-date lease data in Yardi.
- Record monthly rent, concessions, utility bill-backs, and other resident charges.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations related to lease revenue and accounts receivable.
- Monitor and reconcile resident ledgers to ensure accurate rent roll and collections reporting.
- Work cross-functionally with property managers and regional teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely updates to lease records.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining compliance with lease accounting requirements.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in lease accounting within residential property management.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and lease-related revenue recognition.
- Proficiency in Yardi
- Proficiency in Excel
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
