Controller - Real Estate Development
A leading nonprofit housing and real estate developer is seeking a Controller to oversee financial operations, reporting, and compliance for a diverse portfolio of housing and development entities.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting, audit, tax, and financial reporting activities.
- Ensure accurate consolidations, internal controls, and GAAP compliance.
- Manage audits, tax filings, and lender/investor reporting.
- Advise leadership on project structuring, financing, and compliance.
- Collaborate with real estate development and property management teams.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, transparency, and internal controls
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA a plus
- 7+ years of progressive real estate accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or controller-level role.
- Experience with nonprofit and affordable housing finance preferred.
- Experience managing audits, consolidations, and tax compliance for complex multi-entity organizations
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and federal/state tax requirements
- Proficiency with financial systems (MIP, ADP, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
