Job Description
Senior Accountant
Privately held real estate investment and management firm with a diverse portfolio that includes retail, office, and mixed-use properties is seeking a Senior Accountant. This role will support property-level accounting and financial reporting functions and play a key role in monthly close activities, budgeting, and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Manage monthly close processes, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
- Maintain supporting schedules and workpapers for key balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Assist in the preparation and review of operating budgets and variance analyses
- Review and reconcile accounts payable and receivable activity
- Perform bank reconciliations and manage cash flow reporting
- Review and process property-level invoices and loan-related disbursements
- Assist with lease administration and lease abstract review
- Prepare common area maintenance (CAM) reconciliations and real estate tax escalations
- Coordinate and compile financial reporting packages for internal and external stakeholders
- Support lender compliance reporting and audit processes
- Contribute to process improvement and accounting system enhancements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2+ years of accounting experience, real estate experience preferred
- Public accounting or audit background a plus; CPA a plus
- Experience with property management software (e.g., Yardi, MRI) preferred
- Strong proficiency in Excel
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
