Job Description
Accounting Manager - Construction
Growing General Contractor is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead its daily accounting operations and support strategic financial decision-making. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, hands-on experience managing construction accounting functions, and a solid understanding of project based financial reporting. This role reports directly to senior leadership and works cross-functionally with other departments.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes and prepare accurate financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Oversee invoicing, contract management, and financial documentation.
- Coordinate with external auditors and assist with tax filings and regulatory reporting.
- Monitor cash flow, assist with cash forecasting, and support financial planning.
- Supervise and develop accounting staff, promoting a high-performing team environment.
- Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting systems, and processes.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
- Review and analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness of reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of construction accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and financial software; strong Excel skills required.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
