Senior Associate Attorney - Real Estate
Growing real estate investment and lending platform seeking a Senior Associate Attorney to support complex real estate transactions, distressed assets, and regulatory compliance matters. This role partners cross-functionally with legal, capital markets, servicing, and asset management teams to manage risk and drive successful asset resolution strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Support real estate closings, loan workouts, restructurings, and asset dispositions
- Oversee distressed asset strategies including modifications, forbearance, foreclosure, bankruptcy, REO, and note sales
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to mortgage lending and servicing
- Assist with regulatory exams, audits, and investor reporting
- Implement risk mitigation controls and process improvements
- Provide legal and strategic guidance on complex transactions and special assets
- Respond to escalations from internal stakeholders, investors, and borrowers
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) required; active California Bar license required
- 3+ years of experience in real estate, special assets, loan servicing, mortgage operations, or related financial services
- Strong knowledge of distressed debt, loan workouts, and real estate transactions
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks impacting lending and servicing
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
