Project Accountant
A growing construction management firm is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support the financial oversight of construction projects throughout New York City. This position will partner closely with Project Managers and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting, cost control, and financial compliance across all phases of construction projects.
Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle project accounting, including budgeting, forecasting, job costing, and cost tracking
- Monitor project budgets and analyze financial variances
- Prepare and maintain project financial reports and supporting documentation
- Process subcontractor billings, pay applications, contracts, and lien waivers
- Review and process invoices, change orders, and expense reports
- Utilize Procore for project financial management, reporting, and documentation tracking
- Collaborate with Project Managers to support financial performance and project execution
- Assist with month-end close and project reconciliations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 4+ years of project accounting / construction accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, job costing, and experience with AIA billing
- Experience with Proficiency with Procore and QuickBooks preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Detail-oriented professional with strong problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
