AR Specialist / Bookkeeper
A well-established, family-owned real estate organization with a long-standing track record is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist / Bookkeeper to join its team. The firm manages a diverse portfolio of commercial and residential healthcare properties nationwide.
Reporting to the Controller, this role will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounts receivable activities, while also supporting accounts payable and general bookkeeping functions. The ideal candidate is adaptable, organized, and comfortable wearing multiple hats.
Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable
- Apply daily cash receipts (checks, wires, ACH)
- Prepare and post billings, credits, and adjustments for monthly statements
- Run and review monthly AR reports
- Manage collections and follow up on outstanding balances
- Process and reconcile security deposits
- Prepare weekly cash reporting for managed properties
- Oversee residential lease setup and renewals
- Assist with month-end and year-end close related to AR
Bookkeeping / Accounts Payable
- Perform bank reconciliations and prepare journal entries
- Process vendor invoices accurately and timely
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Support accounts payable as needed
- Coordinate with external accountants
- Set up new property files
- Collect and maintain tax, insurance, and utility documentation
Qualifications:
- Experience in real estate accounting or property management required
- Proficiency with Yardi preferred
- Strong Excel skills required
- Experience with collections and tenant interaction
- Tech-savvy, with openness to leveraging new tools (including AI)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
