Job Description
Family Office Director
The Family Office Controller will partner with the appropriate specialist in providing financial planning, asset management, personal trust and estate planning, insurance and risk management services, consumer and mortgage credit, and general banking services.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and present detailed analyses of individual family’s estate plan and/or income tax situation.
- Consult with outside counsel and/or tax advisors to coordinate appropriate solutions.
- Develop and present educational coaching and advisement strategies for family members.
- Partner with and support family members to find creative solutions regarding financial and legal processes
- Have working knowledge of and manage all family member data in the appropriate systems
- Update family roadmap before and after all meetings; maintain and organize files
- Ensure all family tasks, requests and communications are taken care of on a timely basis and troubleshoot issues as they arise
- Prepare and execute on all custodian paperwork and money movement requests
- Assist advisors in preparing for meetings, take notes in meetings and provide detailed follow up directly to family members as appropriate
- Manage day to day operational business functions including compliance calendar, banking reconciliation, notifications and other administrative duties for multi-generational family members
- Attend board and other organizational meetings
- Gather information to create or update planning projections
- Assist family members with the implementation of recommendations, working with CPAs, attorneys, or other professionals as needed
- Coordination of education, funding, investments, insurance coverage and document and communicate recommendations
- Contribute to a professional and energetic working environment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field
- CPA and/or JD strongly preferred
- 7+ years of family office accounting/tax experience
- Working knowledge of trusts preferred
- Ability to analyze and simplify complicated estate and tax planning situations to provide high quality solutions for family members with varying wealth profiles.
- Ability to explain estate and tax planning concepts in a manner that can be easily understood by all internal and external parties.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong relationship management, business development, presentation and sales skills
