Controller - Commercial Real Estate
Full service commercial real estate firm with a national portfolio is seeking a Controller to join its team. In this role, you will provide overall business support and accounting information to produce timely accurate financial statements, financial reports, and information for outside accounting firm to insure timely completion of compilation reports and tax returns for the owners and our companies. You will also report directly to the COO.
Responsibilities:
- Monthly financial statement preparation
- Responsible for cash management, process payments from tenants and issue disbursements
- Reconcile bank accounts
- Accurately prepare and maintain accounting documents, prepare journal entries account analysis and records
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts in a timely manner
- Provide requested information to tax preparer.
- Projects related to the owner’s companies and investments.
- Company’s developments / project analysis, budgets, loan request and construction draws and construction accounting.
- Maintain vendor report for use in completing annual 1099 forms.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field
- 10+ years of Real Estate Accounting experience in a leadership role
- Commercial Real Estate experience is required
- Strong proficiency in Yardi is required
- CPA a plus
- Experience with financial statement preparation, accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliation, and other general accounting functions
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Suite
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- High level of integrity and trustworthiness
- Strong communication skills, bot verbal and written
- Extremely organized with the ability to track multiple tasks or projects
