Controller - Real Estate Development

A leading nonprofit housing and real estate developer is seeking a Controller to oversee financial operations, reporting, and compliance for a diverse portfolio of housing and development entities.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting, audit, tax, and financial reporting activities.
• Ensure accurate consolidations, internal controls, and GAAP compliance.
• Manage audits, tax filings, and lender/investor reporting.
• Advise leadership on project structuring, financing, and compliance.
• Collaborate with real estate development and property management teams.
• Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, transparency, and internal controls

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA a plus
• 7+ years of progressive real estate accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or controller-level role.
• Experience with nonprofit and affordable housing finance preferred.
• Experience managing audits, consolidations, and tax compliance for complex multi-entity organizations
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and federal/state tax requirements
• Proficiency with financial systems (MIP, ADP, or similar).
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
