Controller - Real Estate


Growing real estate development and property management company with a diverse portfolio of assets is seeking a Controller to oversee the company's accounting and financial operations. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Controller will manage financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and internal controls across multiple entities. The Controller will play a key role in building scalable systems, supporting business decision-making, and ensuring the financial health of real estate and property management operations.


Responsibilities:


  • Oversee accounting, reporting, and compliance across multiple business entities.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
  • Monitor cash flow and provide insights on company and property-level performance.
  • Ensure strong internal controls and safeguard company assets.
  • Support strategic initiatives, acquisitions, and capital projects through financial analysis.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience within real estate or property management.
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and real estate finance principles.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel; property management software experience a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
