Construction Accounting Manager
The Construction Manager reports directly to ownership and will have a primary role in the daily transactional activities of the company, as well as providing key support to billing, reconciliations, budgets and forecasts.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage all accounting operations, including compliance with full-cycle general ledger GAAP accounting, work in progress (WIP) statements, bank reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting, billing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Perform and oversee monthly close activities, including reconciling general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and review all payroll activities.
- Track project costs, expenses, and revenues.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop accurate project budgets.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports and other managerial reports / metrics for ownership.
- Maintain the company’s accounting system and files, along with the corresponding legal entities related to the company.
- Monitor compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Participate in insurance, union and sales tax audits and ensure accuracy of financial records
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
- 7+ years of construction accounting experience
- Experience with multiple legal entities preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting principles and practices.
- Knowledge of Illinois Sales and Use Tax, Cost of Goods Sold, G703 forms and waivers, Work In Progress (WIP), and job costing.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Organized and detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
