Accounting Manager
  DC-based Owner, Operator, and Developer is seeking an Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager will lead accounting and finance functions for project accounting and transaction closes. The Accounting Manager will oversee all reporting, compliance, and project related needs on both ground up construction projects and work with auditors and tax accountants.

Responsibilities:
  • Financial oversight of real estate development projects from inception to completion
  • Collaborate with the VP Finance to provide financial reports and analysis for consolidation and assist in year-end reporting that includes 1099s, tax returns, and audits
  • Oversee and manage all project accounting functions, such as reconciliations, A/R, A/P, financial reports, approve invoices payments/draws
  • Review P&L and BS for multiple entities
  • Oversee cash flow management on projects
  • Oversee and manage staff accountants
  • Develop written policies and procedures for accounting processes as needed
  • Oversee accounting for development projects including monthly construction draws and monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required to be in compliance with funding documents
  • Perform financial reporting, analysis, modeling, projections, and ad hoc reporting for special projects and strategic planning; interpret and communicate financial information/data
  • Ensure compliance with financial and accounting regulations, including reporting requirements and tax obligations. Stay current on industry regulations, market trends and best practices to ensure the project remains in compliance.
  • Lead the preparation of year-end tax workpapers, 1099 reporting and annual audits as necessary
  • Standardize chart of accounts across all entities and customize as needed to reflect real estate development industry for more streamlined accounting, reporting, and consolidation across all entities
  • Assist in the consolidation/transition of accounting software to build out management reporting capabilities
  • Communicate and collaborate with the project development team for reporting objectives
  • Support ad-hoc projects/tasks as necessary

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years accounting experience, 2+ years in real estate development
  • Commercial real estate experience preferred
  • CPA a plus
  • Strong understanding of accounting, financial reporting, and cash flow
  • Partnership tax/accounting experience a plus
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with strong problem solving skills
  • Hands-on with the ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
