AP/Bookkeeper - Real Estate


Leading real estate and property management firm with a diversified real estate portfolio is seeking an AP/Bookkeeper to support its accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely financial management across our portfolio. This role is responsible for handling day-to-day accounting tasks including accounts payable, vendor management, rent collections support, and general bookkeeping. The ideal candidate has experience in real estate or property management accounting, thrives in a small team environment, and is comfortable wearing multiple hats.


Responsibilities:


  • Process accounts payable, including coding, entering, and paying invoices.
  • Maintain vendor records and ensure compliance with W-9 and 1099 requirements.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly.
  • Record rent receipts and assist with tenant payment tracking.
  • Assist with property-level bookkeeping (utilities, maintenance expenses, taxes, insurance).
  • Assist with the recording of security deposits.
  • Support preparation of financial statements and management reports.
  • Monitor cash flow across entities and assist with intercompany transfers.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems.
  • Collaborate with property managers, asset managers, and leadership to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Support year-end audit/tax preparation with external accountants.


Qualifications:


  • 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounts payable experience, real estate and/or property management experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Yardi, AppFolio, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and bookkeeping best practices.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple entities and intercompany transactions.
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism in dealing with tenants, vendors, and team members.
