REAL ESTATE
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Manager of Tax has responsibility for tax matters relating to all of the Real Estate Investment Trust's business:
- Coordination and completion of the REIT’s federal, state and local income taxes
- Preparation of the tax provisions, including deferred tax analysis and analysis of uncertain tax positions, in compliance with ASC 740
- Preparation and review of tax disclosures for SEC filings and communication of the results to management
- Review and completion of REIT compliance testing on a quarterly and annual basis
- Ensuring adequate internal controls are implemented and tax processes are effective for financial statement preparation
- Review and approval for filing of REIT and related entity federal, state and local income tax returns for LLC's C-corporations and partnerships
- Researching the tax code, tax regulations, case law and other authorities relative to projected transactions and legal and tax structures to support the REIT’s business planning
- Review of quarterly federal, state and local estimated installments and annual extension calculations
- Preparation and review of state and local apportionment methodologies and function as a tax technical resource on various federal, state and local tax matters
- Respond and manage all state and local tax notices and assist with tax audit examinations
- Function as the liaison to the external service providers and internal departments on pending transactions and with internal departments for data/source material retrieval
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master’s degree in taxation or equivalent would be a plus
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant tax experience with an emphasis on Real Estate
- Strong knowledge of ASC 740 and REIT compliance experience is highly desirable
- CPA is highly desirable, but not mandatory
- Strong knowledge of corporate and partnership taxation and state and local taxation
- Knowledge of general accounting concepts is required
- Must have strong computer literacy, including tax compliance and research software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel
- The ability to multi-task with strong project management skills
- Strong oral/written communication skills
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills, collaborative
