Job Description
Commercial Property Accountant
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the books and records of ~25 properties (consisting of shopping malls and/or commercial office buildings)
- Review, modify, and process tenant deposits which come through Clickpay.
- Process ad-hoc tenant or building related deposits/payments.
- Liase with lease administration team to address tenant ledger issues such as rent adjustments and chargeback expenses.
- Liase with property managers and construction team to ensure books/records reflect accurate expense classifications.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for operating, tenant security and escrow accounts across all properties.
- Process monthly and quarterly partner distributions.
- Process and review mortgage payments for applicable properties.
- Work with management to enhance and strengthen quarterly financial review.
- Actively communicate and follow up on all open tenant, vendor or building related matters.
- Process capital improvements and review to ensure adequate documentation in line with company protocol.
- Recalculate and process lease commissions across all properties.
- Preparation of annual RPIE preliminary work.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years in accounting field
- Experience in real estate a plus
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or equivalent
- Experience with Yardi a plus
- Proficiency with Excel
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task while still exhibiting good judgment and poise in a somewhat fast paced environment
