Accounting Manager – Commercial Real Estate

 

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, and compliance for the company’s commercial real estate portfolio.

Responsibilities:


  • Utilize Yardi to oversee property accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Oversee rent collections, accounts payable, and general ledger accounting using Yardi.
  • Review financial statements, budgets, and cash flow reports within Yardi.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to management.
  • Oversee property-level accounting processes, including rent collections, expense reconciliations, and CAM in Yardi.
  • Review CAM budgeting and CAM reconciliations as performed by the team.
  • Manage lease data within the Yardi system, tracking lease terms, rent escalations, and tenant obligations.
  • Work closely with property managers to ensure lease compliance and accuracy.
  • Review all month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes of the general ledger.
  • Conduct financial analysis using Yardi data to support investment decisions, budgeting, and performance assessments.
  • Identify trends, variances, and opportunities for portfolio optimization.
  • Coordinate tax reporting and compliance for commercial properties.
  • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal tax regulations.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team.
  • Evaluate and enhance accounting processes, systems, and controls, with a focus on Yardi.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA a plus.
  • 10+ years of real estate accounting experience
  • Commercial real estate experience is required
  • Proficiency in Yardi is required
  • Strong knowledge of real estate financial reporting and lease accounting
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Strong financial analysis and problem-solving skils
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both in a team and individually
